So you've decided you want to get fit and healthy this year (which is great), but you don't know how often you should workout. Well, truth be known, there isn't one answer for all. It all depends on your fitness goals, your lifestyle, and how exercise fits in with other commitments (ie work, taking kids to soccer, studying, etc). As you can probably tell, there is no secret formula...unfortunately it's not like that.
So if you're already active, and you deem yourself quite fit, one day per week wont challenge you nor change you (but five days a week might). However if you're quite new to training, any form of exercise would benefit.
Although with all this aside, based on the research we found that three to five times per week hit the spot regardless of what experience you have. It was generally reported that this was the most achievable training frequency. So if you can manage five sessions, great...but if you can only do three that's totally fine too. Everyone is different and that's ok.
But the reality is, consistency is the key to success. So whether you choose, three, four or five aim to consistently train the same, week in week out. This should be your ultimate goal...
So the bottom line?
To be honest, any workout is better than nothing. But if you really want to see results, get your heart pumping and muscles flexing, aim for at least three to five days per week.
